Lindsay Lohan in Betty Ford Clinic for cocaine de-addiction

Celebrity news sources report that the American pop singer and model Lindsay Lohan, 24, being treated for cocaine addiction at the Betty Ford Clinic in Los Angeles. Earlier, Lindsay had confessed to experimenting with drugs, and now Lohan is undergoing a rehab treatment program as she has a dependency for the ‘Class A’ drug.

Lohan has already failed two drug tests last month, and the actress is now due in court Oct 22 for a probation hearing. Lohan has served 13 days of a 90-day jail term behind bars in July, and returned to the prison following the failed drug tests, only to end up spending just a few of hours behind bars after posting a $300,000 bail. She then voluntarily checked into the Betty Ford Clinic.

“Lindsay's primary problem is cocaine. She went through a thorough assessment, and it was discovered that she has a high dependence for cocaine,” femalefirst.co.uk quoted a source as saying about Lohan. “At this point, Lindsay is at a critical point of her detoxification and recovery, and she is doing well.”

Lindsay Lohan has her own treatment team comprising of a personal physician, psychologist, primary counselor, spiritual care counselor, family counselor, case manager, fitness trainer, nurse, dietician, and chemical dependency technician in the de-addiction facility.

Lindsay Lohan gained celebrity fame between 2003 and 2005 with leading roles in the films Freaky Friday, Mean Girls and Herbie: Fully Loaded, and appearing in films including Robert Altman's A Prairie Home Companion and Emilio Estevez's Bobby.

Lohan’s career was interrupted in 2007 as two driving under the influence (DUI) incidents and three visits to drug rehabilitation facilities, costing her dearly as she lost several movie deals.

On resuming her career, Lohan guest-starred in the TV series Ugly Betty (2008), Labor Pains (2009), and appeared in Robert Rodriguez's Machete in 2010. She re-launched her pop music career in 2004 with the album Speak and followed it up with A Little More Personal (Raw) in 2005.

In her probation revocation hearing on July 6, the judge determined that Lohan had violated the terms of her probation and sentenced her to 90 days in jail starting from July 20, and ordered Lohan to check into an inpatient rehab program for three months after her release from jail.

When Lohan appeared in court on July 20, she was taken into custody to begin her jail term, but she was released on August 2 after serving 14 days of prison term. However, she was taken to an inpatient rehabilitation facility where she was expected to stay for another 90 days.

On August 24 Lohan was released after only 23 days. She was ordered to submit to random drug and alcohol screenings and attend psychotherapy and behavior therapy twice a week. Any failure to attend the sessions or to pass the drug tests could result in a 30-day jail sentence.

In early August, Lohan's mother said that Lohan intends to move back to New York once she finishes drug rehabilitation. But after media reports on September 17, Lohan confirmed via Twitter that she failed a drug test, "prepared to face the consequences".

After a hearing on September 24, when the judge ordered a preliminary revocation of Lohan's probation, she was denied bail and sent back to jail. Later the same day, after Lohan's lawyer filed an appeal, another judge granted her bail on the grounds that she had only committed misdemeanors, and she was released from jail after posting $300,000 bail.

Though this video shows some of the mostly unseen pictures of Lindsay Lohan, her fans will be happy to note that the troubled star was freed from jail late on Friday night after spending around 15 hours behind bars for evidence of another failed drug test.

As a recap of the troubles Lohan courted, in May 2010, when Lohan did not appear for a scheduled DUI progress report hearing, the judge issued a bench warrant for Lohan's arrest. The order was later rescinded after Lohan's representatives posted bail. As a reason for her inability to appear for the progress report hearing, Lohan's lawyer said that her passport was stolen while she attended the Cannes Film Festival in France.

A May 24, 2010 order following a rescheduled hearing required her to attend weekly alcohol education classes, wear an alcohol-monitoring bracelet, give up drinking alcohol, and also to undergo weekly drug tests. Another gearing was posted for July 6, 2010 to determine whether Lohan violated her probation orders by not having attended the required number of classes till that date.

In June 2010 Lohan said in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, "I'm still young and I'm still learning but that doesn't mean that what they say is true, that I'm getting messed up and all this crazy stuff and that I'm constantly partying or whatever."

For September 24 hearing, the once-promising star was led handcuffed from a Beverly Hills courtroom early on Friday morning for a third time in three years when a judge found evidence of substance abuse, and ordered Lohan to be kept in prison until an October 22 hearing, but his decision was later reversed by a supervisor and Lohan paid a $300,000 bail.

Lohan, 23, appeared on Monday before Judge Marsha Revel of Los Angeles County Superior Court for a hearing related to her 2007 arrests on drunken driving and drug abuse charges. The judge had ordered for Lohan’s arrest on Thursday because she did not appear for a previous probation hearing. However, the warrant was subsequently revoked when Lohan, who was attending the Cannes Film Festival, said her passport had been stolen, and also posted a $100,000 bail.

On Monday, Judge Revel set a probation violation hearing of July 6 for the actress. The judge also offered to read Lohan a list of reasons why she was being fitted with the ankle bracelet and ordered her to undergo drug testing and alcohol education.

In 2007 Lohan was sentenced to three-year probation after her second DUI conviction, and she was ordered to complete a set of alcohol education classes, which apparently she did not complete. There was a status hearing last week which she missed because, she claimed her father, Michael, had her passport stolen by someone while she was partying in Cannes that left her with no option but to stay in France. She is also reported to have slammed her father, who had encouraged her to enter rehab, "He clearly isn't sane."

Lohan could have faced 180 days in jail if she was found in violation of her probation, though she said she did not understand why, as she claimed to have been more than compliant with everything having to do with the court orders.

Also there were photos of her being circulated allegedly posing next to several lines of cocaine, about which Lohan explained fans pulled her into the room for a photo shoot and she was unaware of the surroundings, and went on to say that the pictures a were a ‘set up’. Lohan, along with her friends, were seen having a ‘white powder’ during an after-party in Cannes, France.
